Art in Prague!
The local artists in Prague were next level. I spotted this piece by Czech artist Jaroslav Šafr and knew almost immediately that I had to have it.
Šafr creates wonderfully strange, earthy sculptures that look as though they’ve been pulled from the crumbling wall of some ancient building. Faces, eyes and ears emerge from rough surfaces and natural colours, giving the pieces an almost archaeological — and slightly sinister — quality.
That’s probably why they grabbed me immediately. I only wish I could have afforded — and somehow transported home — more of his work. I love it all.
Prague Puppets
Puppet artistry is also alive and well in Prague, and some of these were incredible. I just wish I’d had both the money and enough room in my suitcase for the vampire.
The clown and Hitler can stay on the wall.
